About BIM and information lifecycle management

Research presentation

GRIDD has a long history of research into infrastructure data modeling (BIM) and information lifecycle management. Defined in the government’s BIM Roadmap as “a collaborative process focused on the development, use, exchange and management of digital data models related to a project or infrastructure portfolio with the aim of improving its design, construction and operation”.

This definition is intended to be inclusive of all areas and phases in the life cycle of a built asset or portfolio of assets. Underpinning this modeling is management, in particular the planning, execution and control of information flows supporting decision-making throughout a project and the lifecycle of a built asset. GRIDD works with a range of players in the Quebec, Canadian and international built-asset ecosystem to develop resources and knowledge to support the adoption, implementation and roll-out of BIM and lifecycle information management practices.
