M.Sc. #1 Prefabrication requirements management in progressive CC mode

Description

Requirements management makes it possible to manage and track the evolution of user needs over the lifecycle of the infrastructure to be delivered. It is often associated with a change management and information compilation system, and therefore notably with the use of a BIM model. It makes it possible to integrate requirements with practices at each stage of the lifecycle afin to have a building that meets needs and all the information required for its operation available. This research project aims to 1) determine how user requirements are definished and communicated to the private party; 2) identifier the mechanisms and processes for effecting the tracking of these requirements during development from design to AP2 and during realization on the occasion of change orders or requests, as well as best practices in this area; 3) measure whether the final result is suitable for the optimal operation and maintenance of the user’s infrastructure once implementation is complete. To do this, the methodology requires an analysis of contractual documentation concerning BIM requirements at the start and fin of the project, monitoring of the evolution of requirements (functional and technical program) during the project, semi-structured interviews and the development of a model based on Pohl’s three dimensions of requirements management (specification, agreement, representation). The best practices identified in terms of traceability and quality management will enable SQI to benefit from improved processes for future projects.

PhD opportunity: This project could also look at the notion of financial incentives (one of whose criteria is to obtain more prefabrication) used in progressive CC.
