Definition of KPIs for Evaluation of the Impact of Innovations in the AECO Industry

Abstract

The construction industry faces challenges in adopting innovation due to its deep-rooted reliance on traditional methods and resistance to modernization. Scholars and professionals have long discussed the issue of poor construction performance, driven by growing economic demands, intense competition, and rapid changes in the sector. To assess project success, performance measurement is essential, using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as structured data metrics to gauge efficiency and achievements. KPIs serve as vital benchmarks in the construction industry, offering valuable insights for informed decision-making and project improvement. They also aid in assessing employee performance, comparing actual achievements to set goals in terms of efficiency, effectiveness, and quality. By defining specific KPIs to evaluate the impact of innovations in the Architectural, Engineering, Construction, and Operation (AECO) Industry, this research aims to significantly influence and enhance industry practices.
