The Pomerleau Industrial Research Chair was created in January 2012, thanks to financial support from Pomerleau Inc. and Hydro-Québec. In 2015, three new partners joined the ranks of this industrial chair: Ædifica, Bouthillette Parizeau and Canam. The Chair’s research is carried out jointly with work conducted by the Research Group in Integrated and Sustainable Construction (GRIDD), founded and directed by Daniel Forgues, Professor of Construction Engineering at ÉTS.
Through research and the development of new practices based on emerging technology platforms, the Chair aims to reduce the lag that characterizes the construction industry, particularly in Québec. Thus, the main objective is to provide resources, tools and know-how for the construction industry to remain competitive and fully committed to sustainable building, in a fast-changing world.
Improve the performance and competitiveness of the construction industry, by integrating best practices and technologies such as:
- Capturing, producing and publishing know-how and information regarding collaborative BIM and Lean
- Technological intelligence
- Training the next generation of highly skilled workers and experts
- Fostering relationships between the construction industry and local IT firms
