February 2018 strategic workshop on BIM and the construction industry’s competitivess

As part of the strategic workshop on the BIM approach and competitiveness of the construction industry, organized by the École de Technologie Supérieure (ÉTS) in partnership with NSERC and MESI, ÉTS will welcome, on February 1rst, Dr. Bilal Succar and Claudio Mourgues to talk about international initiatives for the adoption and diffusion of BIM at the macro level and the BIM adoption experiences in Chile.

The GRIDD, partnering  with NSERC and the MESI, is organizing a special strategic BIM workshop and conference event on February 1st and 2nd, 2018 at the ÉTS engineering university. We will be welcoming many highly distinguished speakers, including Bilal Succar and Claudio Mourgues, to present international BIM adoption initiatives, and the spreading of BIM at the macro level.

The following talks can be publicly attended by anyone, in the ÉTS’ A-1600 auditorium:

  • On February 1st:
    • 09:30-10:30 : Keynote address: Initiatives for BIM macro adoption and diffusion around the world (Bilal Succar)
    • 13:30-14:00 : A comparative study of Quebec and Finland (Gulnaz Aksenova)
    • 14:00-14:30 : Keynote address: BIM diffusion in Chile (Claudio Mourgues)
  • On February 2nd:
    • 09:00-10:00 : Keynote address: New cooperation models in BIM contexts (A. Lejeune & H.Nach)
    • 13:20-13:45 : Vision 2030 for digital transition in the construction industry (D. Forgues)

Bilal Succar is a designer, visual communicator and avid researcher based in Melbourne, Australia. With a varied background in business, design, construction and Building Information Modelling (BIM), he has worked across many organizations in Australia and the Middle East; led a specialised consultancy business for 10 years; launched an industry-first BIM assessment start-up; published high-impact peer-reviewed articles; led industry-wide initiatives; and keynoted prestigious international seminars. He is also a conjoint senior lecturer at a leading Australian university; a member of an academic advisory committee; and a publisher of two specialised blogs.

As for mister Claudio Mourgues, internationally recognized specialist, is Assistant Professor at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, graduate of Stanford University. He is specialist of the use and implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM), Geographic Information System (GIS) and the use of information technologies for field construction.
