Recent advances in simulation technologies, combined with the increasing need for high-performance energy-efficient buildings within a reasonable budget, is raising the bar for construction and building operation professionals. This guide was created by the GRIDD in partnership with BEIE to provide a cohesive reference regarding best practices in the industry.
This guide is comprised of three booklets (available for download as PDFs below, in French), each relevant to the various levels of professional mastery regarding energy performance optimization:
- Fascicule 1 – Notions de base et simulation énergétique: this booklet introduces key concepts used for designing, building and operating an energy-efficient building. It describes parameters to take into account for energy simulation during each phase of a traditional project.
- Fascicule 2 – L’optimisation énergétique dans une conception intégrée: this booklet presents energy optimization within an Integrated Design process, as well as the implementation and operation of ASHRAE guidelines. Those two processes are regrouped and presented for each design phase with regards to industry standards.
- Fascicule 3 – L’optimisation énergétique avec la modélisation des données du bâtiment (BIM): this last part presents the potential of integrating simulation tools based around Building Information Modelling.
